Day One – Be Strong in the Lord

What does it mean to be strong the Lord?

First of all, it means to rely on God for everything. How do you make decisions concerning your life? Life altering choices are difficult to make in and of themselves, but imagine what it would be like if you only had to rely on yourself. Your relationships, career, and financial decisions could lead you away from the Lord and possibly family. Logically speaking, decisions are made this way every day by millions of people without consulting anyone much less God.

Now, imagine for a moment if you had a decision to make with the opportunity to move across country for your dream job. What do you do? Who do you consult, if anyone? Now, throw in a marriage and children. Does that change anything? Do you talk it over with your wife and kids? What about your current job? How does that affect your decision? Taking all of this into consideration, would it possibly cause stress? It could. Now, let’s change the equation. As a devoted Christian, it might look a little different. Probably the first thing to be done is to pray for wisdom and direction. Talking with God and reading the Bible is a must. Conversations with family and close friends for their input is also a smart decision. These types of choices are what God is looking for in His people. He is pleased with choices and behaviors that honor Him and puts others first. Being strong in the Lord is a matter of choices and behaviors that rely on Him for everything.
